Welcome one and all to the topic that really puts the 'Sc' into Scout, yes badgework. Here at Centurion, we're not concerned with filling our explorers arms with pieces of cloth that could just as easily have been awarded to a performing monkey, oh no! We prefer our chaps to earn their badges good and proper and be able to wear them with pride and plume. Our main focus is on the Chief Scout's Platinum and Diamond Awards, which are like the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards but with a few bonus requirements lumped on top - take that Price Philip! The explorers are split into small workgroups and assigned a leader to help guide them through. They each have to complete a certain number of nights away, complete international / environment / values activities, take up or develop an exisiting skill and physical activity, undertake a period of service to the community and plan, train for and complete an expedition. The hope is that by taking their time and completing these awards properly they will be well prepared to work towards their Queen's Scout Award and achieve the top award in Scouting under their own steam. |

Badge Requirements The people that eat cucumber sandwiches whilst polishing their name badges at HQ are very busy bees indeed. So busy in fact, that they only get a chance to change the badge requirements all too often, particularly where Activity Badges are concerned. As such, the links below will take you into the dark depths of Scoutbase so you can always be sure that what you're reading is as up to date as Sugs' music collection.
Awarding Badges Chief Scout's Awards are awarded by the Centurion leaders with the approval of higher scouting beings. Presentations are made at the rootin tootin event that is St George's Day Parade and at special ceremonies organised by the county - get polishing that woggle! Activity badges and staged activity badges are overseen by the Unit Exec. So, if you think you've earnt one then let them know. After they've scrutinised the evidence and ensured you're worthy, they'll let us know so we can give the final nod and get you badged up. |

Previous Awardees So who has gone before you on the slightly overgrown path to Chief Scout's Award glory? Well take a look and remember, when they're world famous inventors, engineers, actors, chimney sweeps and postmen, it probably had nothing to do with us.
